Anna Byrd Eastman Wheaton was born in New York but went to elementary school in Campbell, Nelson, and Amherst counties. She attended the Campbell County Training school, now Rustburg High School, from 1926 until 1929. She then went to St. Paul’s Normal and Industrial School, now St. Paul’s College, where she graduated in 1931.

Anna W. Byrd Eastman Wheaton was a member of the Class of 1935 of the Freedmen’s Hospital School of Nursing. In this group photograph she is third from the left in the middle row. Later she was certified by St. Mary’s Hospital School for Medical Librarians in Brooklyn, NY.
