Gloria Franklin, a 1940 graduate of Dunbar High School, took her BS in biology at West Virginia State College, attended Howard University, and in 1948 graduated in medical technology from the Franklin School of Science and Arts. She worked in medical laboratories at Norfolk Community Hospital, at Howard University at Freedmen’s Hospital, and for the last twenty-two years of her career at Lynchburg General Hospital. She retired in 1987.
Beakers, pipettes, syringes, and slide rules were tools of the medical technologist’s trade. These were used by Gloria Franklin at Freedmen’s Hospital in Washington, DC, and at Lynchburg General Hospital.
